The free study guide by Praxis (ETS) is more detailed in 10 pages than this is in 97.Then, the practice test is written on a level far beyond the complexity of biology. It does no good to review test questions that will never be similar to the questions on the actual Praxis II exam. Not only this, but it practically screams "vague question with multiple correct answers." And this is when there even is a correct answer.Thirdly: there are so many typos and general bad information, that it does not seem trustworthy.Lastly. I paid $60 for this book. You are telling me at $60 for crappily written pages, you can't, at the very least, afford a printer that doesn't pixelate every image to the point of illegibility.Do yourselves a favor guys: Buy the $20 book that is a 3 star quality (Cliffnotes) instead of a 1 star $60 wannabe book.Update! I forgot the mention that the majority of this book is like 'Guessing isn't really guessing if you're not guessing' and 'don't guess unless you want to burn money' and other crap like that.I guess that stuff would be helpful if you are one of those people who needs like 5 Valium to take a test and need some mental motivation, but seriously. It's ridiculous!I'm going to call a rep tomorrow and explain how crappy this book is and attemp a refund. We shall see... we shall see.Update: I am updating this review for one major reason. I am not saying this to brag, I am saying this to say I know what I am talking about. I scored in the top 15% of test takers for this test. This book has, in my opinion, major factual errors. A $63 study guide should not have these errors. Maybe some errors, yes. But not many. Definitely not as many as this one. It is meant to give you some information on various topics and give you a path/topic list to follow. Biology is extremely broad; you definitely need some guidance in regards to what will appear on the 5235.I thought the guide was great for the genetics and evolution section. It would basically give you a term, define it and then a supporting example of the term. For more complex mechanisms in the field of biology, such as DNA replication, the guide is a bit light on the info. It is up to you to find more in depth information online, whether it be through YouTube or a university library, etc. This book cannot be used alone.As I said, the book gives you a path or list of topics to follow. It provides a little information on each topic and moves on.This guide is all I used, in terms of a text, to prepare for the Praxis 5235. As I said, any extra/deeper info I wanted to gather on a topic, I searched for videos on YouTube.I gave this 4 stars because it did help me, but it didn't do everything. It gave me a roadmap and I just followed it and made my own adjustments to the map when necessary (stayed on a topic briefly or dug deeper).It was a good purchase, you just have to know how to use the book effectively. Don't expect this to be your sole source of information or to magically teach you everything in biology at a high level.In the end, I passed my 5235 with a 170, so the book definitely played a role.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.Do not waste your time with this bookBy Eric HearthDo not waste your time with this book. Multiple concepts presented in the book are incorrect (EG: they book says that the only non fruit producing plants are non-vascular plants, which is completely incorrect) and the practice questions have multiple "correct" answers and are not written well.See all 30 customer reviews...
